Her mum is not a coon just because she agreed on the kids speaking Arabic at home. It is a little sad I guess but I just think her dad is very strict/prideful and still views his children as Arabs even though he married out.

They could have just agreed to have Arabic as the dominant language and have the mother teach her daughter some Somali at least but to ban the language completely? Also notice how her English is impeccable... Clearly he had 0 qualms about his daughter learning English( the language of the British that colonized and enslaved his sabean people) potentially "diluting" her Arabic but draws the line on Somali.
