no, Somali is cushitic and Amhara is semitic.
they look alike too
There is strong similarities between Amharic and Arabic.
Every language has certain vowel that’s emphasizes, apparently it’s the SH sound in Amharic. Wonder what it is for Somali? Usually only a non-speaker of a language notices this. Always wondered why Amharic is categorized as Semitic when it really sounds nothing like Arabic/Hebrew/Aramaic etc.
it sounds super different to somali
Wonder what it is for Somali?
Lol funny how few of the Amharic and Arabic words are similar to af Somali as well but everyone is quick to say oh we borrowed it from Arabic lol like the Arabic word daqiqa for a minute is dekika in Amharic and it’s daqiiqad in Somali. Another example is saacad in Somali is Se’at in Amharic and Sa’at in Arabic. Or for Thursday, we say Khamiis, Arabic it’s Khamis and Hamus is Amharic. Or Faras/Feres is Faras for horse. Anyways there are too many examples here but my point is leave it to all the self-haters and the actual haters here to say most Somali words that sound similar to Arabic are borrowed lol. As though Somali language is some alien primitive basic language that didn’t have basic words for basic things like time, days, animals etc unless we borrowed them from somewhere else lmao.

Lol Every language has it their own reoccurring sound and very language has vowels or at least vowel sound. What do you think Somali is? Some alien language? We do have it we just can’t hear it since we speak it. For example Koreans have reaccuring sound of nimda. Arabic is the Kh sound, clearly Amharic is Sh etcSomali doesn't emphasize vowels though it's apt to have many double vowel words,
Just really the tone of words spoken!
Emotion of the language expression is how it's emphasized subject context to be understood.
It's not a tonal language alone but when things said inn a certain way it makes more sense to how it said.
What do you think Somali is? Some alien language?
Tag all the cagdheer boysCan we get one of our resident Ethiopians to translate this?
Blease iyo thank you
khamiis is a loan word. I've heard that Thursday is "Hakibilaw" or "Dabeyl" in somaliLol funny how few of the Amharic and Arabic words are similar to af Somali as well but everyone is quick to say oh we borrowed it from Arabic lol like the Arabic word daqiqa for a minute is dekika in Amharic and it’s daqiiqad in Somali. Imagine if if the Amharic girl said she borrowed those words from Arabic or vice versa. To many self haters and misinformed people here smh.
