Corruption is everywhere. Cadaans are just smart and sneeky enough to hide it better. Also, the western world's so called love for egalitarianism is due to the blood, sweat and tears of the working classes of the 18th and 19th century who protested and created trade unions, the right for votes ect. For a regency period enthusiast, I thought you'd know how savage life was for the poor in that time period. The working classes were routinely worked to death and shipped to the workhouses which was a death sentence if no work was available for them. Those that were on the brink of starvation who succumbed to stealing would be given the most harshest of sentences. They I would argue had more inequalities than a lot of Eastern countries. Anyone interested in history can tell you that corruption is/was very rife in their history.

I think people forget how horrible the West was for the poor pre- World war 1. The level of cruelty and the amount of sacrifice working class Europeans had to make in order for their descendants to live in an 'equal' society should never be forgotten.
