Not trying to disparage your parents but how is being kidnapped a good lesson? I think we should at least try to stop it in the process and ban any of our sisters from going to places like India or any Asian weird countries. I think this goes well for our brothers too as men can be victim to many things as well so they should be taught to be in high alert or avoid places.

You don't just get kidnapped certain areas and countries are known for certain things you avoid such places. The idea that the west is any better than the east in terms of crime is cap. Travelling teaches self-reliance and makes you more aware of the world. Some places in India are fine I went to Mumbai the biggest problem their is food and water quality. Yes the "pls vagene and kis me" people exist there but there are ways to deal with it. Banning people does not fix the issue

You are very right in that you shouldn’t judge before ever visiting or trying. I was told that Indian men try “discipling” women for anything with the police ignoring rapes, murders and crimes done by such conservatives. So I would at least try to be somewhat more careful. I guess Ive been viewing things in a much more weather approach ignoring the crimes that happen in the west while focusing ones done in the East. Police in a foreign country will not be kind to the foreigner, with Japan’s judicial system deporting a lot of foreigners for not knowing the system well enough.

As a foreigner you have the added protection of knowing people activtly avoid issues with you cause they don't look favourablly on them. Japan judicial system sucks balls but it's amazinggggggggg great place to visit and work in for a bit. Dont worry about thinking the way you do it's only cause that's the information that constantly gets pumped out . We gotta do our own research and decide by ourselves

I’m allowed to travel solo, and I always notify my folks if I leave home, but it took my older sister breaking their strict boundaries that she had to face. I think once they saw nothing happened to her when she broke their old boundaries, they were fine. I’m grateful for it.

Older sisters/cousins are a blessing.
Never in my life did I think I'd be allowed to move out. Luckily my 'rebellious' cousin did it a year before me and my parents saw shes still alive lol, they spoke to her about how life is like. Only then was I allowed to move out lol.
Where would we be without them:wow:

I still had to fight to move out. They let me apply for my dream school out of state, celebrate my acceptance, and still didn’t let me attend it, bc it was out of state.

Mind you, they paid for private hs, which I still have no idea why, since the biggest point of doing that is explicitly trying to get your kid into a prestigious school for college, which are all out of state. When I did, they congratulated me on my acceptance, but still couldn’t let me go. I’m the youngest. I still moved out, in-state, and had to fight to do that. I realize I could’ve fought for what I really wanted, but I didn’t. I shouldn’t have listened and stayed, in retrospect, but I felt sad. In alternate retrospect though, it may have cost me a lot, but I already had some scholarships. I resented them on that point for a long time.

I thought getting into a good uni would allow you to go anywhere. I mean I made sure I got into one of the unis for my career and I guess they were happy for me and felt like it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down. I also might have declined my offers from the uni in my city and said I got rejected :ftw9nwa: (I didnt want to go that uni anyway since it was not a good uni for me or my course)

Yeah it's very weird they paid for a private hs and even celebrated you getting in, only to refuse you attend such a school. It sounds like they encouraged you to reach for such goals and denied it to you when it became a reality, I get your why you felt resentment towards them for that. What was their reasoning? Was it the prices/costs (which seems somewhat reasonable I guess depending on the scholarships you had) or they just didn't want you going so far away?
I forgot out of state tuition prices were a thing lol, I guess I'm lucky since tuition is free here and living costs aren't that bad. Also, Scotland is probably smaller than whatever state you're from so I'm not thaaat far away from my parents.

I live alone now and I’m not married so yh my parents weren’t that strict. I was allowed to go out but had to follow a curfew and I’d always have to ask beforehand.
Internationally is something else, my mum wouldn’t trust me travelling alone. If I went with friends she knows and gave her a full itinerary then she wouldn’t stop me.
Let me move in with you and get married walaal

Chill out sxb lmaoo
