Thanks bro. A couple of things though....I'm not married to a Tanzanian woman, no my wife is Creole from Portugal.....and the potential second wife, is a North Sudanese, who lives in Belgium but is moving permanently to Tanzania for work.

Marry more than one woman in the UK? Hell no, its illegal.
Ohhh aight. Also, are u just not interested in wifing a Somali at all or you don't really care about that stuff?

Not a bad post. Too many people going to college. Some people are naturally better at reading, writing, and deep thinking than others--they should always go to university and should study the liberal arts if they like. Most people are not like this and should think about becoming a plumber or electrician or some other trade, as they will either fail college or only narrowly graduate and struggle to land a job. Nothing wrong with people taking different paths. Shanta farood ee gacanta ku wadayaala ilaahay muusan simin, in other words--diversity is part of life.

Sweetheart its not university you should be worried about but elementary. Literacy undermines religious thinking. Which might be why Boko Haram and its ilk are so against it

Im into tech engineering, which we need the most
I want to innovate new things for our community for example motor engineering with Somali brand names
Introduce these vehicles and replace toyatas and land cruises plaguing the somali landscape

I just haven't met any somalis with the same ambitions and Im certain they dwell somewhere on this earth and not a parallel universe

When I see a successful somali like yourself
A lot of us are motivated

Somali boys should learn trades. Instead of going to University, studying useless, no good degrees, such as business, humanities, and media studies.
These courses are no good, whatsoever. Yet, in colleges and universities, up and down the West, you'll find Somali kids enrolled on these courses.

They'd be far better off, enrolling on courses or going on an apprenticeship, in a trade.

Plumbing, carpentry, electrician, and my trade: stonemasonry, are some of the most well paying, rewarding jobs out there. You'll be self-employed, never without a job, and can work anywhere in the world.

I too nearly fell into the trap, of enrolling on a useless university course, I was gonna study Historyvand Politics at Leicester University. But Alhamdulillah, my father talked me out of it. He instead recommended that I study a trade. He told me, it would be a decision, I'll never regret. And I thank him greatly for that.

I enrolled on a four year stonemasonry apprenticeship in London, and at the end of it, became a fully fledged stonemason. Alhamdulillah, I've earned a great salary, in all of the construction projects I've been part of. The thing was, I was the only Somali in my apprenticeship.

It's such a shame, I didn't have another Somali on my class. Its such a shame that not many, young Somali men, are not interested in learning a trade.

Facts London electrician myself.

Right now commercial gas engineers are in mad demand they easily make 60k+ on the books and homee by 2PM lol

Hope is not lost we have like 7 apprentices and 2 are Somali straight out school

Mashallah Brother @Arma
Unlike our other Somali counterparts in London, you ain't a Taxi Driver, but a skilled tradesman with 2 family's and good if not exceptional pay!

This shows everything can happen with good passion!

I've meet a few Somali guys with humanitarian degrees and all of them had one thing in common: they were soft

Too bad trades are looked down upon. These are the jobs that run economies and make good money.

Mashallah brother, as someone else who works in the trades im glad i didn't fall into the useless degree trap. I wish I saw more somalis. It's tiring to see only acdaan folks and explain what trades are to every adeer and habiar that asks what I do.

It is physically demanding though? What if you're injured and can't use your arm/back issues?

That is what I'd most be afraid of.
