Why would you accuse me of being emotional when you could have just asked for evidence? If anything I would say you are the emotional one in the matter considering your own brother was accused, so you probably think it is more common than it is.

Anyways here is the evidence:

Just 1.5% of all rape cases lead to charge or summons, data reveals

Only one in 65 rape cases reported to police result in suspects being summonsed or charged, a Guardian analysis of the latest crime figures has revealed.

I still don’t believe it, I’ve taken classes for statistics and I know just how easy it is to skew stats. Convenient they cite precisely (with even a link) for all their other facts but when it comes to the meat and bones they give a vague “Home Office Figures”. And when you search this up you see hundreds of blogs all citing home office figures in the same manner.

Listen to yourself rn. Are you telling me I have a 1.5% chance of going to prison if I was to rape someone? I can imagine many scenarios where they can skew this 1.5% stat into something for a front page.

Also how convenient for you to ignore all my other points.

Face it, there’s no such thing as rape culture in the west.

when ever people discuss rape one group of people never get involved in the debate. The actual rapers. So people take their anger on others
I’m 99% sure rapists do get involved. I know plenty of rapists and they almost always get involved in these debates, they’d help rape victims so they can seem innocent.

You can believe what you want to believe, you asked for statistics and I gave it. Right now its your emotions and feelings that are talking. Look everywhere and the stats are the same.

I believe it because of social norms and context. Until a few decades ago, women were blamed due to their dress. In some parts of the world until 2018, rapists would not even be imprisoned. All they had to do is marry the victim. Look at the attitudes of the men here? This place is definitely a microcosm of the attitudes people have in real life.

Actually look at the society around you rather than your feelings.

Also, face what? I have provided facts and figures and you have provided what? Your thoughts, your mere opinions, your 'feeling' and what else?

Its true that there are a lot of sick men in this world, they rape/abuse etc. I'm not trying to argue against that, because its facts.

However I question why some Somali girls are talking about their rape on twitter, but they're not reporting it to the police? If you accuse someone of such a big crime, then allow the accused a way to defend himself. If you accuse him on social media, then how can he defend himself? We don't know if what they're saying is true, it's just he said she said for now.

How is the justice system rigged against men when only less 2% of actual rapists are sentenced? 98% of these cases go unpunished. We have rapists roaming around and women are at danger. If the justice system was guilty until proven innocent than it would most definitely be much more than 1.4% of rape cases.

Okay, lets take the courts out of the picture then, if that is the route you want to go down. Its funny that all of a sudden you care about reputation when men are 100% believed when they ruin a girls rep and call her a ho. No one bothers to confirm. If your mate said so and so is slag, ya'll believe it straight away. So miss me with the reputation argument. The same can never be said for a woman that accuses a guy of rape, but doesn't take it to the courts. Women are not believed and sspot is a good microcosm of the world at large.
Lol imagine equating calling a girl a hooe and accusing a man of rape :mugshotman: ,one ruins rep and the other could potentially get u incarcerated.:bell:

I was talking about in the situation the girl doesn't press charge as the other poster was talking about how girls who don't press charge, but go on twitter are ruining the rep of the guys.

I think maybe it’s because either a) they didn’t report it at the time for any number of reasons or b) it’s not possible to report them (maybe due to statue of limitations or lack of concrete evidence) so they go for the court of public opinion route instead.

Nothing better than some good old racism

"The man, 21-year-old Farah Abdulkadir Jama of Preston, pleaded not guilty to the crime. The jurors saw in the dock an athletic-looking African youth with strong features. Eyebrows raised, head tilted slightly back, he appeared dismissive and defiant."

This case was clearly racially motivated.

That could very well be the reasons, but should we believe them? It's very unclear what the truth is tbh. Imagine they're accusing someone they hate. His reputation is tarnished and we have no way to prove whether he truly is guilty. That's my problem with people coming forward and not going to the police.
