Independence is overrated for Djibouti. Honestly, they were better off staying as a French territory for the economic perks.

Somalia waits to attack Ethiopia till 1994 and focus on economy and education becoming a first-world nation in the 1990s. Somalia becomes a safe haven for Africans escaping war and poverty. In the 2000s Somalis become sick of the immigrant and they make a wall and border security in border against Kenya and Ethiopia and Eritrea.

I remember watching a documentary about Mayotte's issue with Comorian illegals sneaking into their territory. The Mayotte locals are no different in the ethno-cultural sense to the Comorians, but have intense hatred for them.

Funny how Mayotte is ~97% Muslim; mostly Non-European and proficiency in French is the lowest of all French departments, but are highly loyal to France.

Getting the support of the Americans and the west also Ogaden is Somali territory. We could also support Ogaden rebels to break off from Ethiopia and get independence and later on they join Somalia.
