It depends on the person. A lot of people postpone marriage for career and education especially a lot of people here in the west.

But most non Muslims don’t care about staying a virgin. So they usually have relationships and hook ups throughout for years before they Get married.

Now doing the same thing above minus the dating and relationships sounds pretty difficult. Doable but difficult.
