Xalimo Says Somali Culture Is Oppresive Because Women Bring Guests Water To Clean Up With After Eating

She looks dirty and lazy, that's probably why she's complaining over small stuff like bringing faraxal to her guests.. Her nails look oppressed and needs cleaning, and stop hiding the unwashed jar33r hair under a hoody.. She should take a bath instead of hanging out on tiktok to complain about hand washing.

Usually farxals are given to guests when there is a gathering. Also, if it is a group of men, women don't bring it in as that is ceeb. Why would women wash the hands of non mahram men? In my family, the women prepare the farxal and then my abo and brothers are the ones that go in and hand the farxal to the men. We don't go in to a room of men and start handing it. That might be the norm of some Somali families, but my dad would never allow such nonsense.

I've never seen women going into a room full of men to wash their hands, as you said its ceeb in our culture and all of the venues I've participated in it was men bringing in and out the faraxal..

Judging by the tiktok comments I don't think its ceeb for all Somalis. My fam is pretty conservative, so my dad isn't going to allow us to go into a room of non Mahrams.

Each to their own tbh.

Farxal isn't worth complaining about. What I find ceeb about back home is that the women will cook and then the guys will be served first and the person that had been working had with the meal is left with the leftovers. Ceeb tbh and shows lack of care.

One sad thing my reer Koonfur ayeeyo told me is that in the badiyo back in the day when hilib would be prepared the liver and I assume the good cuts of muscle meat would be for the men and stuff like the kidneys were left for the women. In fact, men would tease you if they saw you eating kidneys cos that was basically left over organ meat for women. Ceeb.

It's not ceeb it's tradition anyways that leftover stuff isn't common nowadays as we have become more urbanized and food being available

It was also common with reer waqooyi nomads

It should become common again, no wonder why all the xalimos back home are fat now compared to the past. They eat as much as men today and used to eat our leftovers in the past. Good way to control obesity.

Yeah this is how it is back home, why would a woman go into a room full of men bending over to give farxal this is dhaqanxummo? This is given to the brothers younger boys.

Its ceeb in general. Someone has been slaving away in the kitchen for hrs, you eat everything and don't check if they have enough for them?

Just because something is 'traditional' doesn't make it acceptable saxib. A bit of kindness would make you think overwise.

Also, part of good etiquette and actual Sunnah is for family to eat together.

With that I agree with you we should bring it back :samwelcome:

Usually they eat before the men eat, this is could be true in certain households though, I always see them eating while cooking :wow:

First know what the word ceebs is and then say whatever you want :stopit:

Ceeb is something that is shameful. Just because something is prevalent, doesn't make it not ceeb. Not having kindness or compassion is indeed ceeb. Watching your partner, sister or mother slave away and only eat leftovers because of the men in the family never once thought to think about what the women in their family are eating?

Anyways, part of good etiquette and actual Sunnah is for men to eat with their wives, mothers, sisters and children.

If somali community doesn't see it as ceeb then it isn't in our culture however I agree with you in the last part of the Sunnah and etiquette

You need to feed the lions first, they hunt and provide you the food to cook.
