Access to market. Very low, cities like Galkacyo and baidabo perform better, if thou Garoowe if the capital of Puntland.

Garowe is not near a large enough concentration of people. It is not large enough to generate a substantial market on its own. and is somewhat distant from other large cities. Nugaal as a region is also fairly rural.

It will have better market access when Garacad port is completed.

It's good Puntland doesn't urbanize to quickly, it will lead to urban slums as the city doesn't have an urban industry to employ these people. Puntites will need to continue living rurally and doing 3rd world occupations like farming and nomadism untill the cities itself starts to be injected with large scale investments into manufacturing and professional industries, which will create a knock on efect into the service industry to respond.

Seems like everyone and their mother are going to Xamar.

MJ today outnumber all Hawiye outside Mogadishu. If Mudug and Galgadud are taken together as a single state, there are now more Cumar Maxamud than Hawiye!

Hawiye is moving en masse to Mogadishu. HY are moving to Hargaysa now that they are a minority in Burco.

Centralization is good, easier to manage an economy when the populace isn't nomadic. What do you estimate the population of Bosaso and Galkayco are?

I have seen a trend that most of Sanaag is moving into Ceerigabo or heading to Bari.

Basically Cumar Mahmoud will be sole Power in Galmudug if HGs flight to Mogadishu isnt unchecked, which atm already is too late.

Kudos to Beesha CM.

Puntland outnumbers GM & HS?

The combined population of GM and HS is about the same as Bari and Nugaal.

These federal states that the Hawiye have created are becoming less viable as people urbanize in Mogadishu. You cannot be a viable federal state if the city your youth want to move to is outside your borders. GM & Hiirshabelle are not growing in population and may even be experiencing some decline. This happened first in Middle Shabelle which had no population growth between 2005 and 2014. It is now extending as far north as Galkacyo.

It is an educated guess. You can see that there is a lot of outmigration in Caynabo. You can quite easily assume that the migrants out of Caynabo are moving to Burco, but why does Burco have a negative outmigration rate? what is the dynamic at play?

The dynamic at play is that Burco is another Galkacyo. The HY, similar to the HG in Galkacyo, have a larger city that is more attractive, while this is not the case for the HJ. This is why although both cities are experiencing substantial population growth, both have negative migration rates. The negative outmigration in Oodweyne district is imo the smoking gun, it has a negative outmigration rate and yet it is obviously not losing people to Burco. Sheikh and Berbera have no outmigration, and Gebilay is having in-migration, so it is safe to assume that Hargaysa's high in-migration is a result of the high outmigration of HY in Burco and Oodweyne.

A quick check of the 2017 elections data tells you who is in the majority in Burco district.
