It's afrocentric fiction.
Abu Bakr II is the only African known to even attempt to cross the Atlantic and his entire fleet is sitting at the bottom of the ocean right now, still undiscovered to this day.
It's said to contain a massive amount of gold and treasure so whoever finds it will be rich.
First of all, Abu Bakr II was not the first African to attempt it. There were many people from West Africa who sailed away to find a mythical ‘far away land’ but never returned. Their failure to return plus Malian storytales about this land is what mainly inspired Abu Bakr to abdicate and explore.
However, it was only Abu Bakr and his large fleet that made it to the new world. when Columbus went there, they discovered canoes which resembled those made in west Africa. Also the spears they found on the Haitian/Dominican island were made in West Africa indicating some type of interaction between the two.
Anyways, why does anything that portrays Africans to be advanced classed as fiction. Once upon a time Africa was the most developed continent
