Why Somalia Needs to Quickly Rush to Become Africa’s Port to the East

As it currently stands Somalia is in absolute disarray with a weak and lethargic federal government and “states” that wield more power than they should. This must be resolved quickly if the country wishes to capture for itself a top seat in Africa’s future.

As many of you know :
  • Somalia as it stands Somalia has the largest coastline on the continental mainland.
  • By the end of the century it is projected that the continent will hold nearly 45% of the world population and the largest % young population in the world. It will make Africa the second largest potential consumer base.
  • This will make Africa a prime hub for exports from export heavy Asian markets looking to get their goods into Africa (China being the biggest one).
Essentially, if Somalia can beat out the other developing eastern coastal countries in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) it can put itself in prime position for economic power and political leverage. Additionally, it will help make Somalia a massive exporter to other African nations further strengthen the economy.

Of course, none of this is possible without a competent and strong federal government, stability, and economic incentives and insurances. Somalia has squandered a lot of its time, but this decade I believe will either make or break the country. We can either grow to become the African gateway or become split and weak.

A strong federal government is a bad idea. What made America great was a small government with strong states. In today's world, I believe strong local governments are the way to go.

How do you ensure that model will work for a state like Somalia tho? It look like every other gobal has its own convictions all of them don’t have the same national agenda

Galmudug has 1/3 of the world’s uranium supply. Also before 91 bp was in Somalia for oil

Strong local governments will cause certain localities to fall behind others as well as brew more chances of corruption in local governments. A strong governement at the federal level overseeing economic growth is a much more proven route to quite economic growth and modernization. USA didnt become strong over the span that we need to develope and modernize.

How are you going to convince foreign owners of the strategical points/resources and their private contractors who are guarding them to give you 100% ownership?

No offense but other than Somaliland and Djibouti none of the ports are very strategically located. And neither require a heavy security presence either so
