I am much more successful than the Somali friends I had growing up. My traits which they lacked (and you can extrapolate this to the wider Somali population):

-reading on a daily basis
-strategic and long term thinking
-staying away from bums
-networking with other ethnic groups
-volunteer/civic work
-not wasting time on sports and gangster music
-ability to focus when needed
-no criminal behavior or antisocial behavior
-humility and diplomatic behavior, knowing when to fight and when to let it go
-I don't have the world's greatest work ethic, but i worry about and complete the most important tasks
-Knowing what my priorities are


I would say 90% Somalis lack most of these traits

Speak for yourself, I guarantee there’s some good people back home trying to better the situation. Not everybody back home is a corrupted businessman/politician or khat crackhead.
Only 90% are.
