Why is Somali Food being lied about constantly?

If you read the comments on this post? Apparently Somali Food is Mixed with Ugandan/Yemeni/Afghan/Indian and Italian Food.

Why do these people feel the vim to claim our food and why do Somalis never establish this IP over our Cuisines since these weirdoes fill the void.

When people think Italian food they think meat sauce , pizza, lasagna all rich foods with Tomatoe at heart of it . Well tomatoes came from North America and got introduced 16 and 17 hundreds to Italy and now it’s heart of their cuisine . Same applies here . Not really. The goops and gooper scoopers are a fusion as well. Most of the goops are tomato based, a few spinach based ones, the potatoes, onions and other vegetables in their Doro wat come from North America. Even the chicken in Doro wat is a Malaysian import. Only their gooper scooper is traditional and based on teff. But it’s nasty, most tourists get served wheat based injera.

There spice blend is called Berbere which sounds like a certain city in Somalia that was known for trading in spices .

Walahi it’s mid. I’ve had some in Minneapolis and even when I went to Jigjiga. Gave me the runs both times and my fingers smelled like a bonfire and doodoo.

It’s like they’re allergic to giving us credit . anything they deem good came from elsewhere and anything they think is ugly or bad is ours originally.

They insult us and associate negatives with the Somali name, so for some, it’d be embarrassing to admit they got something from us or like something of ours.

Food is by definition mixed. Somali food is certainly heavily influenced by foreign cuisines especially Indian and Arab but it's also unique at the same time.
Beris iyo hilib is similar to biryani and yemeni food but it's literally rice and meat which are very basic staple foods that virtually every culture mixes together
