Why doesn't Saudi Arabia just annex Yemen?

They have some minor ethnic differences though. North-Central Saudis were the founders of the Arabic language (a Central Semitic language with its closest sibling being Hebrew), while South and Southwest/Gulf Saudis & Yemenis were South Semites (different linguistic category), historically.

Arabic replaced the previous languages of Yemen. People forget this.

So there is a minor ethnic difference between them. But overall they are similar.

I thought it was only the Meheri who speak south Semitic. I'll research later. Also many Gulf Arabs have Persian and Baloch ancestry. Genetically speaking, I don't think Arabia is genetically homogenous.

They are the remnants of a previously more widespread group.

Sort of like laangaab Brahui in Pakistan who still speak a Dravidian language, even though now Dravidian is isolated to South India, it used to be predominant in Pakistan before Indo-Iranian replaced them.

Saudi Arabia can rebuff Yemen the country has a lot of potential from ancient architecture for tourism and the Bab el Mandeb strait. Also Socotra can generate so much revenue it can feed, cloth and educate the Yemeni population if developed well.

They don't want it, trust me Yemenis look down on Saudis as arrogant new money. Go back 100 years ago and the two countries position were reversed. Yemen was civilised and Saudi Arabia was a Bedouin wasteland bar the Hejaz.
