Why does everyone have braids these days?

nah fr every somali girl these days has those box/synthetic braids and all these faraxs with braids (yall know what I mean, these faraxs aint copying the Prophet, they are copying DeMarcus), twists and some even with dreads. what the helly is going on. not to mention me recently learning the reason why only my hair poofs up at weddings is because everybody else got wigs on even the bride. i'm not even mad or anything, I'm just confused.

Just fashion:trends. Remember every black/african person used to always wear Afro’s , even in Somalia. Then the fashion died out. Same here I guess. Too much maintenance for me however

wearing box braids was somali tradition for women. But not with synthetic hair. Also the synthetic just makes your hair longer/thicker. It’s just a nice style

It helps with me as it manages my hair. Having my hair out all the time is a hassle and I wear a hijab anyways. Synthetic hair makes it longer and my 4b hair loves braids.

Boho braids are my fave. My brothers also all wear braids its easier to maintain on type 4 hair

Yeah my hair is looser it’s hard to do box braids with synthetic hair bec it will slip out if not done professionally. So your hair type is ideal

Yeah with looser hair thats easier to manage it makes sense.

Africans ate down with the invention of braids its even cultural for us since we wore braids too.

Braids are definitely a good way of not having to brush ur hair everyday. Only problem is that u should never leave it for long

I leave it for long maybe like 3-4 weeks each time. The tougher the hair the longer you can leave it. Also, wudu makes the hair messed up anyways.

on top of that lowkey its a bit pricey. My hair also doesnt produce oil at all its so so so wiry so i dont have an oil problem
