Why do we eat a lot of foods from India ?

So I was talking to an Indian coworker about what we normally eat for afur and she was like “yo most of those foods are Indian originally” and I was like damn you’re right actually lool. When you think about it a lot of Somali dishes have Indian influence..

Sambuus
Bajiye
Shaah
Chapati
Shigni (chutney)
Bariis (which is oddly similar to biryani)
Etc

Even xawaash is literally the exact same spices as garam masala :hmm: where did this huge influence come from?

Our traditional food was milk and meat as we were mostly pastoral. Thats a limited diet to say the least.

Due to that why we have picked up a lot of food through trade and from our neighbours. Nothing wrong with this because food is global. Pizza uses tomatoes which are only native to Central America. Same with chili, thats associated with various Asian countries.

Who said all that belongs to India?
:cosbyhmm:
Are they like the origins of food worldwide because just cause they eat it doesn’t mean it came from them. Not saying these foods are somali either.
