They are vastly different

No single federal state or whole of south Somalia can be compared to Somaliland. Not in terms of democracy, stability, security. Not even in terms of population, number of cities. Puntland is closest in all ranks. But even then it is a distant second, but certainly deserves an honourable mention.

Somaliland has existed since 1991, the very beginning of Somalia's civial war. It has many large cities including Hargeisa, the third largest city in the Horn of Africa, second largest Somali city. Hargeisa is larger than all other Somalia's large cities combined (excluding Mogadishu). But Somaliland also has many other cities such as Boorama, Burao, Las Anod, Erigabo, Zeila, Oodweyne, Sheikh, Gabiley, Arabsiyo, Ainaba, Wajaale, Badhan, Dhahar, Ceel Af Weyn etc. Overall it has 5 of the top 10 largest cities in the former Somali Republic.

It has a long track record of democracy and political maturity. It has had many one man one vote elections, including three presidential elections and parliamentary elections. It has an official opposition. Many political parties. Open, televised debates in its lower and upper house. Televised presidential debate.

Can any regional state in South or Central Somalia really compare? This is a genuine question. Is it not indho adeyg to compare themselves to Somaliland.
