Why do they use mediocre women as somali models??

Yup the target for these type of models is other dark/African women, not men.
That’s what I’m thinking. They’re on body positivity.

They use ugly models to make ugly girls happy. But this isn’t the case, they’re trying to play off mediocre somali women as the cream of the crop somali women. I’m saying we can do better.

I mean they did choose that one guy for the pirate movie Captain Phillips, maybe its a trend :mjkkk:
Nah it’s different. They were looking for someone to play the role of an impoverished rogue pirate.

Not a top beauty model.

I also just realized how redundant this question is.

Do you think the women I sampled for you as models are beautiful? Like model beautiful?

If you don’t then this question doesn’t help.

Rating other women is in poor taste. Beauty is a difficult terrain to navigate. You must take into consideration features, facial balance, symmetry, the complimenting of attire and even camera angles. Could we find women that are more in line with your beauty standards that are Somali which could be high fashion model material, certainly. But there is a limited supply of Somali options to even choose from because of the religious/cultural taboos surrounding modeling. Did you not see the video clip with Halima Aden and her mother? It's frowned upon (hijab or no hijab).

Rating other women is easy. No need to get all technical with whatever you brought up, I'm sure they factor into beauty. But all that seems artificial, I just rate them by how beautiful they look to the eyes.

BUt yeah what you said makes sense, I wouldn't want my daughter being a model. So I can't expect to see many somali models.

I knew this sounds like a typical qashin post, but hear me out. Why is it that when they show off somali models, they show 7/10 women with strong jawlines, when you can go walk across the street and you’ll probably pass by a better looking somali woman with ease?

There is no lack of beauty in somali women but despite that they only ever showcase mediocre looking women as models. In fact the amateur instagram models or youtubers are 9 out of 10 times more beautiful.

Here’s some examples:

But these women are not model tier beautiful. And please don’t come with “oh they’re beautiful” and stuff, I’m actually looking for honest opinions.

I noticed they do this with madow women too. They’ll take an average madow woman and play her off as a model. I think that’s why they have low standards for somali girls.

I’m asking you guys because I know you’d be one to sugarcoat. But can you really sugarcoat this? Be honest, when you see white models a lot of the times, they’re banging hot. Because modeling industry has HIGH standards for models. But when it comes to black models they seem to severely lower their standards? Are any of those woman higher than an 8/10?
I noticed this phenomenon too, most Somali girls don't really care for modelling due to religious reasons and aren't encouraged to take that route. The modelling industry is a dark place, there's a lot sexual exploitation if you want to reach the top, you really have to compromise your morals to get some recognition.

Search up “models” with nothing else on google images, the non-black models are generally dimes. With a few mediocre ones. Whereas the madow ones are all mediocre.

So why do they have beautiful women for non-madow women but then when it comes to somalis and madows they use “interesting” looking models.

Can you not see how similar they look though? They all have sharp features, the madows and cadaans.

I get what you are coming from, but the model industry isn't about what men find attractive as women with no curves and sometimes with androgynous features are put forward and obviously men aren't going to find that attractive.

Tbh, when it comes to models, especially in this day and age, the only models that would probably appeal to what men find attractive are Victoria Secrets models or sports illustrated. Victoria secrets have some really pretty non-White models.

I would say Halima Aden is very pretty when she is not doing 'interesting' pieces and she is wearing standard makeup. Sometimes, they go out of their way to make her look weird or 'interesting' which in turn would make men think she is unattractive, especially for her editorial pieces. That is one example to show modelling isn't about what men find attractive.

Easy for you to say. You're a guy and won't experience much backlash from negative appraisals while if you' were a woman uttering similar sentiments people will have one or more of the following preconceptions about you:

(1) You're spiteful
(2) Possibly jealous/in competition
(3) Vain
(4) They'll point to your blemishes in a retaliatory way (even if you're an anon and nobody knows what you look like)

I've observed this on SSpot, too. Just by seeing some of the posts/replies. So, it's best to say nothing about this unless it's nice and you mean it.

I don’t rate guys, so idk why a woman would rate other women.

Women obviously have their own way of rating men. Even if it isn’t as simplistic as “out of 10”. That said I do agree it’s more acceptable for a guy to comment on a girl’s looks than vice versa in today’s society. At the same time guys care much more about looks than their female counterpart.

You’ll often see guys marrying/dating girls out of their league, whereas you’ll almost never see a good looking guy with an ugly girl.

Models aren't meant to be 'beautiful.' Their purpose is to sell products. That's why alot of models aren't conventionally beautiful. I think this is done in order to not take away from whatever they're selling.

The only model that I've seen thats breathtakingly beautiful is Yasmeen Ghauri. She's gorgeous mashallah.

I noticed that models typically have similarities in facial structure and body. They tend to have sharp features because it's seen as easier to model makeup on such faces. No matter the race or ethnicity, the models always have prominent cheekbones, sharp jaws, and feline eyes. It's easier to model clothing on tall, skinnier bodies. They're not meant to be attractive but to model the product in the best way.

Not to be a downer but they're quite good lucking for a Somali maybe just stick to cadaan models. :ohno: :ohno:
No way are you crazy? Go to a shisha lounge and you’ll see better looking somali girls.

If those girls are good looking for somalis then I wonder how you look like :farmajoyaab:
