It’s not what you think, they dislike him because he is a self promoter and people feel like he’s using his wife’s fame to promote himself. He’s appeared on shows as if he’s a political commentator. He even launched a smear campaign against city councilman Abdi Warsame and refused to congratulate him as if he’s a fellow politician. There was a few topics even here on SS showing this.
