This question has been asked so many times, it’s useless to ask such a question since this topic is so sensitive to Somalis and nobody is willing to listen to one another.I might be biased since I am originally from Somaliland, but favouritism aside logically it would make more sense for Somalia to give Somaliland it's recognition back as it would benefit somalis as a whole. Just think about it for a second, Somaliland is probaly the only place in East Africa that actually has potential so imagine if it does become an independent country and succeed, wouldn't that create a domino effect and give Somalia some sort of support or ally?
Giving somaliland recognise doesn't mean we should be fully cut off any relationship with Somalia, in an ideal world could form some sort of union together with Djibouti were we could help one another and trade (similar to how the EU works).
I know alot of you diaspora are very patriotic when it comes to "freeing" ogedan and NFD (as if they can't do that themselves) but why do so many of you have anonymity against northerners wanting to be independent and fixing their own problems?
Me personally I’m against it because I believe it would be harmful in the long run and SL gaining recognition would destabilize the whole entire country further and other groups would want to secede, making Somalia as a country extinct. Somalia has so many problems and SL getting recognition would just further complicate the issue, It’s like adding fuel to the fire. When you analyze the situation from a pragmatic perspective, you will realize the harms far outweighs the benefits. UAE styled federalism is probably the best ideal for Somalis. We can all be apart of one country and have a certain level of autonomy that allows us to govern our affairs which is a win-win situation when you think about it objectively.
This is just my opinion and I admit I may be wrong. Either way, May Allah grant peace, development and stability to all our lands.
