Why are you against Somalilands recognition

If this was even true in the slightest why have the assassinations not stopped after the deportations. October 2021 was the when I drew the line and stopped supporting the Somaliland cause. If I ever become president of Somalia I will invade Somaliland and bring them back under Somali government by force as revenge for the wrongs they committed against my community. If this does not happen then I hope a president comes and grabs Somaliland with an iron fist.

I am against the breaking up of the Zoo Nation regardless because it was the previous generation that brought the civil war upon us and ruined our future, 30+ years later we should come together and build a prosperous nation without any secession from any region and to retain our strategic 7 shape. I have seen many SLers despise the name “Somalia” and of course we can change the name to what it was called “Somali Republic” as it says on our passport. But then again, the ball is in Reer SL court and on how well they lobby during negotiations.

With the 1961 act of Union between SL and Somalia it’s very hard to gain recognition and very unlikely.

Somali Govt right now is at a weak state, I don’t see secession happening anytime soon. I hope SL comes to realise this and uses this to their advantage to make sure they are at the advantage when it comes to negotiations.

Giving somaliland recognise doesn't mean we should be fully cut off any relationship with Somalia, in an ideal world could form some sort of union together with Djibouti were we could help one another and trade (similar to how the EU works).

I am not against it, in fact I will support it. However there are issues to resolve at first. To do so, let us define SL. What do you consider SL? And who wants to secede?

1) Somaliland certainly has potential to develop. The point is how is Somaliland development any good for somalia? If SL develops it will mainly benefit SL and certainly they will never share any of those benefits with Somalia since they despise us.

Could you expand what is informing this idea? Is it based on theory, or an actuality?

2) unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world. Somaliland would be a hostile country to Somalia even if they got their independence. There's too much anti somalia hatred in SL which is the basis of their attitude towards us

Have you been to SL? If you have, you would know that other than some nutters on the Internet, mostly kids born abroad, who have never been to SL, the average Somali in SL has no animosity towards Somalis from other regions. Further, there are politicians who use it as a scapegoat to misridect the public when they have no answers to the economic and policical issues in Hargeysa.

3) Another problem is that somaliland recognition will open the door for PL recognition which in turn will open the door for each federal state declaring independence.

PL will never pursue secession, and even if some politicians fancy the idea, the public will not allow it to pass.

Walaal, I am for it at times but turn against it as a person who is from Somaliland. My Qabiil is hated on along with the rest of Somalis by the majority of the Somaliland elite which are the Isaaq.
