Why are you against Somalilands recognition

I might be biased since I am originally from Somaliland, but favouritism aside logically it would make more sense for Somalia to give Somaliland it's recognition back as it would benefit somalis as a whole. Just think about it for a second, Somaliland is probaly the only place in East Africa that actually has potential so imagine if it does become an independent country and succeed, wouldn't that create a domino effect and give Somalia some sort of support or ally?

Giving somaliland recognise doesn't mean we should be fully cut off any relationship with Somalia, in an ideal world could form some sort of union together with Djibouti were we could help one another and trade (similar to how the EU works).

I know alot of you diaspora are very patriotic when it comes to "freeing" ogedan and NFD (as if they can't do that themselves) but why do so many of you have anonymity against northerners wanting to be independent and fixing their own problems?

If I speak about my opinion on Somalilands recognition it doesnt really affect me because im from the south. My Clan does not live in Somaliland. But the reason why I disagree with Somaliland recognition is because not all people who live in "Somaliland territory" believe in Somaliland. Awdal as well as most Sool and Sanaag residents still support Somali unity.

Therefore if you believe that as a Somalilander you deserve the right to be recognized Awdal+Sool and Sanaag deserve to remain part of Somalia according to there choice. If you force clans like Samaroon+Warsangeli+Dhulbahante to be apart of Somaliland while they support Somali unity then what makes you guys different to people who want to force Somaliland to be a part of Somaliland.

I will support Somaliland independence when all citizens of Somaliland support the independence. But as long clans from Sool and Sanaag and Awdal are Pro Somalia unity I wont support Somaliland independence.

Isaaq has right to do what they want in their triangle state to be or not to be part of Somalia. Sool,Sanaag and Cayn is part of puntland and we will secure it. Awdal known as pro Somalia.

1) Somaliland certainly has potential to develop. The point is how is Somaliland development any good for somalia? If SL develops it will mainly benefit SL and certainly they will never share any of those benefits with Somalia since they despise us.
2) unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world. Somaliland would be a hostile country to Somalia even if they got their independence. There's too much anti somalia hatred in SL which is the basis of their attitude towards us
3) i have nothing against landers as a people, i wish them good but I'm also a pan somalist so I don't like to undermine the unity of the somali nation. Another problem is that somaliland recognition will open the door for PL recognition which in turn will open the door for each federal state declaring independence. It would be the end of Somalia as a country and very detrimental to the Somali people as a whole.

4) Sool , Sanaag and Cayn are also a huge issue. It's well known that Daroods in Somaliland aren't very enthusiastic about independence. Somaliland should have a proper referendum in each region to determine how many people want independence, obviously they won't do it cause they know that deep down even the "pro Somaliland Daroods" Will unite with Somalia if they had the chance

I think it’s better to be a bigger unified state against our frenemies (the Ethiopians, Arabs, Kenyans).

1) I doubt so, most of my family, relatives and the overall population in hargeisa have no animosity against southerners, of course there are some prejudice stereotypes we have against you but its no where as severe as how somalis from Somalia treat habesha people.

2) most anti-Somalia progranda sterms from the fact that people still have ptsd from the genocide, I mean innocent civilians got torured and brutally killed not to mention that it wasn't that long ago. Although I would argue that the trauma will heal, it just needs some time.

3) I am in no way undermining somali unity, I am just seeing it from a realistic point of view. The chance of "somaliweyn" becoming a reality is little to none. So instead of letting our people die for the sake of some dream of "ethnic union" why not be rational?

And the excuse that they used was that people from SWS was behind the assassinations that were happening in the region. If this was even true in the slightest why have the assassinations not stopped after the deportations. They have not even apologised and accepted they were wrong for deporting those innocent people even after its clear as day that SWS people were not behind the assassinations. That day was a black day in Somali history. It will go down in the future History books Inshallah.

October 2021 was the when I drew the line and stopped supporting the Somaliland cause. If I ever become president of Somalia I will invade Somaliland and bring them back under Somali government by force as revenge for the wrongs they committed against my community. If this does not happen then I hope a president comes and grabs Somaliland with an iron fist.

Walaal, I am for it at times but turn against it as a person who is from Somaliland. My Qabiil is hated on along with the rest of Somalis by the majority of the Somaliland elite which are the Isaaq. Somalia and it's flag are also viewed the same way as Nazi Germany was viewed by other Europeans. The iceing on the cake is that Somaliland separatists are the most anti-Somali people I have seen. They don't even believe in the Somali identity and view that we are their biggest enemy as non-Isaaq Somalis. I wish the best for them but wallahi they hate our guts.
