During my childhood some strange compliments was thrown at me and my older sister because of our skin colour. Like one time my mother was with me and some naag randomly said "ohhh she is very white" like I don't know if she thought i was half white. That's how pale I was. Also the usual caadey etc.. or she looks arab to my sister, etc. Do you think is the media pushing this or what is it? i also noticed darkskin somalis with straight or wavy hair are even more sort out for. People was obsessed with my middle sister who is darksn with wavy hair. For me if your facial features are beautiful than your beautiful regardless if your skintone or hair texture.I know w4 aren't as bad as these African Americans or Asians. Bit still

I don't know, but it seems like a universal phenomenon in the current era, except for already very light-colored people. I don't understand it either, like a white-yellowish complexion isn't necessarily more attractive than a burnt sienna tone just because it's light. People are like elementary school children, in my opinion. Very simple and shallow. I judge on luminosity, smoothness, undertone, saturation, and health rather than the brightness itself.

Gracias

My experience is different. People didn’t care much about my skintone besides one person calling me caadey which I personally don’t think is bad (correct me if I’m wrong). Most people I saw being praised were brown & darkskin with long hair

When a darkskin girl is beautiful than she overshines from everyone else, whereas with lightskin people I see more often attractive ones. But nevertheless is childish to find someone attractive solely on their skin colour. It's weird and gives off fetish.

Yea like my middle sister...an arab girl thought my sister was stunning who was darkskin and wavy hair. I think they're more desired with Somalis. Can't blame them they're absolutely stunning just like my sister 😍

No one is superior to one another. that's a sick mentality. Your only superior if your imaan is better than others not because of your damn skin colour. I hate the media for brainwashing the world. Arghhh

I never said anyone is superior read my post again. I said thats what they think. Also I disagree I believe people who are more attractive in looks are superior tbh.

So sorry to hear this As a child you will feel left out because of it. grown adults mocking you simply because of your skin colour. I see why you feel that way and I hope with time you get over their mean comments. I noticed 6 years ago darkslin girls were getting hyped especially in the uk with the whole "chocolate darlin" from a famous uk drill artist. But sadly this past years with racisk.being normalised darkskin girls are getting mocked heavy again smh.

Yeah. It’s something you gotta unlearn yourself. You can’t be seeking validation from others cause then you’ll be insecure and sad forever.

I haven’t really seen dark skin girls being mocked online really maybe that cause I made it so my algorithm knows not to show me that nonsense.

Also welcome back.
I haven't seen darkskins being mocked either, in fact I see a lot of praise. Largely due to Anok Yai tbh

Racism.against black girls is horrible. But yh wise to remove any negativity on your social media app, shits depressing that's why I haven't been on tiktok since last year nor go on my instagram reels since racism against somali girls and black girls is extremely brutal. And I'm.happy your not seeking other validation because sadly humans follow trends they dint care about what isn't on the "news" sheep's following other sheep's. as long as you have loved ones with you complimenting you and other Somalis like me nothing matters. and nice to see you too 😊
