Afar I believe had alot of semetic admixture like tigre unlike us Somalis but somehow maintained their Cushitic language. But they're still dhuxul cause of living in the desert.

They have been mixing with the habesha for a while, we were never close to them as they always backed the habesha, they were foot soldiers for the habesha during the Adal wars which is ironic cuz they claim adal but they were such uncle toms for the Christian abbysinians

Afars live in a large area bordering mostly semitic speaking people, compare that to somalis we mostly border other cushitic peoples.

Given that full Ethiopian/Eritrean had 23andMe results showing half Somali values places perspective on the affinity those groups have to us, even excluding the Djiboutians.

Gauging signature relatedness from distances on groups that carry several orders of proximal drift correspondence baselines with each other and the proxy samples, where the "SSA" and Eurasian weightedness take precedence, is useless.

The non-Habash Arabian (likely mediated in the Islamic period) in Sahos and Afar and the minor Habash admixture, on top of what is overwhelmingly Somali-like in signature adjacency, compromises the overall affinity attribution in these computational systems that reduces broad associations toward the shortest common denominator. When certain conditions are met, the system picks shortcuts that, without extra thought/familiarity, can mislead, leading to thinking Afar is Habash profiled or inferring closer ties between a Somali and Wolayata than any of the other samples, signature-wise -- all pure nonsense.
