Alshabaab is mainly funded by coal exports and those who are supposedly their enemies and fighting them don’t mind doing business with them for the coal export. Secondly, two of the most agricultural areas in Somalia in jubada Hoose like Jillib and Jamaame and their sorroundings are under their control. Alshabaab controls more agricultural productive areas than the government or dawlad goboleeds. They sell (or Tax) these products to the rest of the country. Last but not least, business people pay them protection money, so they wouldn’t assassinate them or destroy their businesses. Given all that, they are a government within a government.

Other than the foreigners; Geeljire businesses are.

Dahab Sh and the big telcos pay them ridiculous sums every month.

Those guys probably cover 30%+ of Al Shabaab's budget.

Without Al Shabaab, they wouldn't exist.

The rest comes from regional pariahs like Ethiopia, Kenya, Somaliland and probably even Djibouti.

All those smaller factions that are getting fat from the chaos all pay something as well (protection money).

Local security groups and other types of NGO bandits.

As well as most the hotels and restaurants in Xamar.

Toyota funds all these Islamic terrorist. Check out the vehicles they all drive from the middle East and Africa. It's like they are sponsored :fantasia2:
