Many clans local to that area, not just MJ have oral history relating to them expelling these “gaal madow” from the pastures and wells they previously occupied, while the gaal madow wars were happening in the south it is not all that inconceivable that galla were present in the hawd and parts of mudug before the arrival of the various Darod clans that occupy that country today, for the very reason that it was sparsely populated and indefensible country, far from the populated waqooyi and shabelle regions. Not entirely sure.
The Gaal Madow wars is mainly a southern tradition/history. I don't recall anywhere in the north where it is mentioned. And it’s unlikely a large amount of Oromos were moving into the Hawd since it would be orally recorded by the Somalis there.
my theory and it’s just a theory is that Somalis migrated through the hawd from north to south and east to west but didn’t settle it and that for a short while during the oromo expansions, there was a small galla penetration into the hawd and that the Darod wave from the north during the 17th to late 19th century completely extinguished.
