Paedomorphism is the retention of infant features into adulthood.

See how much change chimpanzee skulls undergo? compare to how little change humans undergo... humans retain much of our juvenile morphology relative to chimps

Australian Aboriginals undergo a lot of change, their morphology is very archaic(explains why there society isn't producing many models), paedormorphism has been an extremely important part of human evolution and is reflected in the high degree of plasticity in human behaviour and trend towards co-operation and altruism(both are innate behaviours in children, even chimp infants), I think this is an important part of attractiveness.

I agree to some extent, a well developed face signals that you can resist enviromental stressors, stressors which can often lead to improper craniofacial form, asymmetry etc... so proper development is very important in attractiveness, but if this was the most important thing, than Australian Aboriginals back in the day would be among the most attractive people, which is honestly not the case.

Things like sexual dimorphism and paedormorphism are probably the main reason they are largely not great looking, and are objective correlates of attractiveness IMO.

Aborigines seem like the only exception I can think of, xawey. But even for them I think a case can be made for western influences in diet really screwing up their facial development because a few examples I've seen of really early Aborigines are actually fairly decent looking:

Neighboring groups like Fijians, based on the work of Weston A. Price, seemed to look pretty good-looking before modern degeneration began to take hold:

But I ultimately agree with you on some level. I'll be wading into suugo science from here but there is an element of paedomorphism in post-neolithic societies. I read around over the years that the theory is basically that the hierarchical societies that surfaced thanks to pastoralism and farming basically created a selection bias toward more delicate, gracile and infantile looking women while both men and women became gradually more gracile than their HG predecessors due to poorer nutrition as well. Types like Kim Kardashian and the obsession with more "white" features seem like the ultimate expressions of this, if you ask me.

Most pre-Neolithic peoples were actually fairly robust in comparison.
