Who fits the new alleged Somali phenotype?

I don't believe you are Somali.

I have seen this false narrative pushed by other Africans who are fixated on Somalis. First of all, people POST THEMSELVES. As in, there is no agenda to post a certain phenotype, Somalis just look like Somalis. Secondly, it's Niger-Congo Africans who believe a girl automatically becomes 'lightskinned' if she has aquiline features and curly/loose hair. I say this, because I've seen your average dark/maariin girl posting HERSELF on social media, and then salty Niger-Congo people saying "why are you always posting lightskinned Somalis".

In fact, most of the beautiful Somali girls I see posting THEMSELVES on social media, tend to be dark, and no, I don't think darkskin starts with South-Sudanese skintone, anything darker than Maariin is dark. Iman is dark, Yasmin Warsame is dark, Waris Dirie etc, etc.

Walahi they see girls such as Ladan below (Masha'Allah) and scream about 'why you always post lightskinned girls'. We don't fit into your Niger-Congo descriptors of skintone. Stop projecting onto us and leave us alone.

Wallahi you are. Learn to accept that Africa has phenotypic diversity and keep it pushing. Your anger should be with your self hating men
I just don’t believe that other Somalis would question you tbh. We know that we’re diverse, it’s only ajnabis who do this weird shit

Other Africans think lightskin is anyone lighter than a South Sudanese person. I've noticed this, they have their own skin-colour rankings and fixations and project that nonsense onto us. Because I've seen a video with what I consider a darkskinned pretty girl, and they were triggered in her comment section. As if she imprisoned a broadfeatured/darkskinned Somali girl and stole her wifi password to post her own face. They are absurd.

Somalis are the ONLY group I have seen in Africa that does not pedestalise the mixed minorities. Because they, the Niger-Congo descendant self-haters pedestalise mixed people and certain features that are a minority among them, they project their own cuqdad onto us. Meanwhile, the girls that trigger their insecurities are not even lightskinned, certainly not mixed and certainly not a minority in our country. They were so impressed with Iman, they don't even realise Iman is not considered stunning in our country. Just your regular pretty Habaryar.

I’ve seen it happening personally, especially when it’s those East vs west debates, and they categorize us and Ethiopians as having these 3 set features and that’s what makes us β€œdifferent” from one another.
Why is different in quotations? Do you not think we're different? And yeah, the most superficial and obvious traits that differentiate us Horn Africans from West Africans is indeed our skin colour, our hair and our noses lol.

I’ve noticed this new phenomenon (especially on social media) of a certain phenotype being pushed onto Somalis, especially the women, of all of us having loose curly hair, a small nose, and lightskin, despite having all 3 attributes being considered a minority. I recently did a 23andme that came back 99% Somali (with some trace ancestry). As someone who fits this new phenotype being perpetuated, I was just curious if anyone fit it as well, and also knowing your background is also just 100% Somali? Just interested because all my life I’ve had others question my identity, including both ajanabis and other Somalis :)

Stop lying. Somalis mostly fall under the same phenotype and that's why people like, post things such as 'how do you know I am Somali'. In fact, Somalis are among the most recognisable ethnic group, precisely because we have specific phenotypes which other people pay good money for. So, when you and your people fail to make Somalis feel insecure, the next tactic, is to try to get Somalis to hide themselves. No, pretty Somali women will not stop posting themselves. No matter their skintone.

Nobody sits around forbidding ethnic Somalis from posting themselves. There is no hidden group of darkskinned, broadfeatured ethnic Somalis who are not allowed on the internet. Somalis, and Cushites just look a certain way. And it's not our responsibility to babysit your feelings. If you are triggered by the way Somalis look, just block us.

Yes, we are different, and Allah SWT made us into different nations. The only people who love lumping Somalis under East are people who want to ride Somali coattails when it comes to co-opting Somali culture or features. "East African beauty yaasss"... while wearing our baati, as if they and their ancestors never had their own clothes.

Don't forget how they simultaneously insult and mock Somalis racially (God help us if we do the same to them, that's racist apparently) and about our country and culture and whenever a Somali does something bad, immediately rush to blame the Somalis and overemphasise that heritage as if our culture condones it and separate us from East Africans. We're simultaneously ugly big forehead pirates when they're upset but whenever someone insults black girls or say we can't grow long hair or loose hair, all of a sudden our photos come flying in? When we're doing good, we're one of them. When we're not, we all of a sudden are excluded from them and totally different.

Yes!! I always notice this!! That’s why I only want Somalis to identify as Somalis and leave East Africans/black label behind. Like when a Somali girl go viral it’s omg BLACK BEAUTY or East African beauty. People in the comments are clearly saying she’s Somali, and then they start asking, β€œSo is Somalia not in Africa?” Like, just leave us alone.

Libaax-ess. Realised it wasn't a Somali when they fixated on the women. Jealousy seeped through the screen holy cringe.
Especially the cuqdaad toward lightskin women in our community. Wallahi aside from the girls who have been influenced by mathows, never seen your average pretty mariin/dark skin Somali woman have problems with lighter ones - nor have problems with finding suitors or anything their mathow counterparts complain about

They are obsessed with Somali and Horn African women in general. They don’t like the fact that we look different and even when the Somali phenotype is mentioned they start talking shit about pirates and refugees as of they represent the β€˜true Somalis’ . For example this Somali girl has a very common look amongst our people and they will accuse you of cherry picking.
