Children just gonna get confused

Ive seen half Somalis the only Word they know is Asalamu aleikum

By race, I mean what the child will be considered. If the father is Somali, then the child is Somali, etc.
technically that still doesnt make sense. the child will have a qabiil, but will still not be somali just cos we made up a rule that mullatos with somali father are somali. its makes no more sense than the 1 drop rule. genetically speaking, the kid will be half somali and thats it. otherwise if a half cadaan guy married a cadaan woman, we will be claiming their kid who would be only 25% somali and so on.

Speaking from my experience. I was born to a Somali mother and harari father who died so his best friend/neighbors adopted me when I was young brought me here and still love me like I was there own. I never even knew my background until 3 years ago. So in conclusion, some of us gave up our identities because of circumstances outside of our control.

I have a second cousins/abtis a bit older than (some in mid 20s, others 30s) me that have white mothers (italian and others that are british) they seem like normal Somalis, been there and visited back home a few times as well.

These problems will occur more often with the second generation who breed out, rather then the first.

thats not true at all, probably the complete opposite. half somali children with somali mother are 99% of the time the ones who are more connected to our culture. the whole 'children follow their father' is probably a way to discourage somali women from marrying out. most somali fathers hardly contribute to child rearing so how exactly are they supposed to follow their father.

Men do have a societal enforced connection to their fathers though. That can't be overlooked.

They may not be in tune with the culture, but an involved father is going to have a massive influence on his sons and how they identify as men. Especially when you look at concepts of inheritance. It's fading but that paradigm exists.

But that is only if the father is in his kid's life.

The children spend more time with their mother so it would only be natural if they are interested in her culture

It may not make sense (technically) but we're talking about Somali culture, and in this culture, the child is considered to be from the race of their father.

He knows absolutely nothing about Somali/a/land
I searched the term "Somali/a/land" and nothing came up. There is no language called "Somali/a/land' or a country called "Somali/a/land". What I found however was, a language called SOMALI and a country called SOMALIA.

So, next time, before you post something, make sure you're making sense and not sounding dyslexic.

Pretty sure that was an inside joke of sorts

@Kalshaale LOL, so sad that you took it so seriously. Instead of crying contribute to this thread. :) This guy's father is from Somaliland, so that's why I wrote it as that.

Look Merca imma be direct with you...if you marry out half your job will be instilling somalinimo into your kids and that's a tedious task and it might backfire

If your intent is to have your kids connect with your culture and heritage than that becomes significantly harder if you marry out. Especially if you're in the culture sucking West.

It's just a reality
