Learning since I was kid it's always been normal for me I didn't get seriously into learning kanji till my teens though. But my cousin who started from the start took a year to converse normally and 2 more to be at a high school reading level. It all depends on how much time your willing to commit to it. If you are interested I got some channels and books you can use , it's not hard grammar wise .
