Scandinavian society is very uniform, it makes sense that Somalis grow up to fit the archetype because of how exclusionary they can get.

Here in the Netherlands, all my Somali acquaintances and family members are very whitewashed. There are some traditional people, but I think you can't not be integrated here. Might also be thanks to the schooling system, the people you meet are primarily non-somali and are also very westernized or just western.

If you live in a town (tuulo/dorp) or in the non-big cities Somalis are rare to encounter. You'd basically be raised up like you're white due to your environment.

The bigger cities like the ones in or close to the Randstad, definitely people are close to the Somali culture and religion. First generation don't even speak the language, second generation used to be a mixup between succesful ones and ayaalsuuq. Now that second generation is filled with young folk, who have become much more educated like you said and serious over the years because the cost of living. Everyone either works or studies. We've become very integrated but verily don't neglect Islam and try to blend Somali daqan with the one we grew up with.
