My mom has a WhatsApp group chat with all her cousins and aunts across the globe. People from Egypt, uk,Germany, somalia, Saudi, Canada, Dubai,Kenya and etc

She even had one of my cousins on my fathers side that I didn’t even know about in her group chat

My dad hasn’t had a full family reunion since the years before the civil war. Since then he had visited and met all of them multiple times but the whole family hasn’t fully been together since before the civil war.

My grandmother hasn’t seen two of her sons in 10+ years. My dad was initially separated from her for 15 years after the civil war happened. All his siblings are scattered in Canada, Dubai, and Somalia .

My grandmother hasn’t seen two of her sons in 10+ years. My dad was initially separated from her for 15 years after the civil war happened. All his siblings are scattered in Canada, Dubai, and Somalia .

My mom went 20 years without seeing her mother inshallah we will be in hargeisa soon which will make it the 5th time she’s went back to her mom in the past 6 years alone . I couldn’t think of being away from my mom for that long wallahi it sucks what happened to our people .

I met my grandmother once. And well I don’t speak somali . So our conversations didn’t really last long since I coul only understand like 25% of what she was saying. Stayed over at her house for a week just chilling watching Tv together that’s its.
