Where did your family live before the civil war?

I was surprised to find out that Somalia's largest cities/towns outside of Xamar were relatively cosmopolitan(clan wise) before the civil war.

A buddy of mine is Abgaal Wacbuudhan reer Mataan, his family settled in Kismayo during Aden Cadde's presidency and had lived there up until the civil war.

I also have a Habar Jeclo friend whose family had lived in Baydhabo, my own family were reer Merca pre civil war.

This is a stark difference to the clan segregated society that we see today.

Crazy because both my parents who are Isaaq also lived in Mogadishu. They both came from two different neighbourhoods. Hodan and Medina.

I guess in pre-civil war Somalia. Majority of the urban population was in Xamar.

Kismayo. We stayed in the city, even in the midst of the war. We left Somalia for Kenya in '96.

I think the issaqs that lived in konfurta were those who were seeking employment due to not finding jobs in (modern day SL ) in their region due to the bad economy and unemployment. However, in those day prior to the civil although certain region were homogenously populated by a specific clan family (untill to this day )there also people who are from a different qabil that got along with each other.

Clans were always been segregated geographically whether it would be in Djbouti, DDSI, SL and Konfurta and NFD. i.e
Hargeisa is a very diverse city that in inhabited by Issaq subclans mostly HA's sa'ad musa and Garhajix's ediigalle . However, it is more diverse in comparison to Burco which is home to HJ and HY.

siad barre shifted armies and employees around and even students, so he ca get rid of tribalism,

funny because marehan participated the biggest tribalism in somalia and created the civil war by attacking every clan,

do as i say, not do as i do,

we even had 1doors sent to kismayo as state workers,
