Basically somalis were divided into two

Biyo+maal not biimal(clan) and soo+maal

Those who depended mostly on fishing as they neared the ocean

Soomaal the name is from the Arab forefather,Cismaan , that was his real name. He arrived from Yemen in the 9th century. He was a man rich in livestock, so he was wealthy , one of the arabic word for wealthy is dhawamaal. Later cause of human corruption, the word became Zowmaal. Since the dh in Arabic is very similar in pronounciation to the z in English. Eventually the dh/z became s and thus Soomaal.

Somaali derives from ismacili it derives from ismacil jabarti, darood's father. Its first use was in futuh alhabesh(conquest of ethiopia) before then the people were called berber.

What animal are you talking about?

Ever heard maal as wealth? Or even kheyradka badda or resources? As biyomaal

maal can either be a noun or a verb, when it's a noun it's wealth, but when it's a verb it is the act of milking/(milking). That's the difference
