when people ask "what are you?" do you say somali or somali american/canadian/british etc?

My brother knows this mexican dude that strictly identifies as mexican american and gets pissed when he gets called mexican alone

Thats probably why many somali brits tend to be closer to the somali culture than other diasporas :it0tdo8:

I'm not in the UK. Obviously I won't say I'm British in the UK, I'll just say I'm Somali.

When you're abroad, people will think you're a qaxooti if you say you're from Somalia, whereas you will get much better treatment in terms of jobs/opportunities in professional environments if you say you're British, and people will generally assume the best about you because most people in the world envy the West.

But, if I'm around my friends, I'll just say I'm Somali.
