What will somalia look like in 2045?

Somalia does not have the resources to manage itself federally. A state like Galmudug for example, has next to no resources, and a population below 1 million. Federalism in Somalia is a mirage. Places like Galmudug, HiirShabeele and Koonfur Galbeed will effectively remain under the control of Mogadishu. Federalism was introduced by Puntland into the rest of Somalia because it was the system that accomodated it best, not because it was a good model for the entire nation. It gave Puntland the autonomy it had always desired and it gave the international community an excuse not to recognize Somaliland's bid for independence. For everything south of Galkacyo federalism is a very system. Even in Jubaland, a state in which only 2 subclans make up a clear majority, it has proven to be unwieldy. Hiirshabelle has 4 or more major clans, KG has dozens and Galmudug has 5 or more. It is not at all clear that a federal Somalia can become a functioning state.
When I see places like say Nebraska, I don’t see a place that can live on its own, but it’s also governed by its self and not DC
