The UN and WB forecasts that Somali regions population will be 60+ million by 2050.
40 million in Somaliland & Somalia
Another 20 million in Djibouti + Western Somalia + NFD
That's 60 million + Somalis at current growth rates. Somaliland + Somalia would have to add only 500,000 people every year to reach 40m. But could Somaliland and Somalia sustain a population of say 40m? Fertile southern regions probably can, but Somaliland and Puntland cant. But then Ethiopia is damming southern rivers so they will dry up in 15 years. Whereas Somaliland has huge underground water resources.
Either way Mogadishu and Hargeisa are going to have populations of 3+ million and 6+ million in 2050. Burao, Bosaso, Beledweyne will be close to a million each. They will be megacities.
