BAISO AND RENDILLE: SOMALI OUTLIERS HAROLD C. FLEMING ... - DSpace@Roma3

I really wish there were more Somali Language experts and linguists. Cushitic has been largely neglected by linguists in favour of the Semitic and Indo-European.

It's your responsibility as Somali diaspora to get degree in linguistic instead studying arts subjects.

Definitely Rendille.

This is a video on YouTube about a Rendille woman and FGM. So many words and phrases that Somalis use .

Inan (boy)
Towan iyo afar (southern dialect for 14, in standard Somali 14 is afar iyo toban)

Ana diide (I refused)
Doonne (want/looking for)
Habarteey (southern dialect for my mother)
Gargaaro (support)
Qabo (hold)
Ila siiye (gave to me)
Ingig (dry)
Ma qaadin (I didn’t take)
So noqo (return)
Wahaan arkey (I saw)
warsad ( ask)
Micno ( meaning)

We don’t share just random words but verbs and adjectives as well .

Rendile to Aff Soomali is Saho to Afar.

Soomali and Rendile are the same language. When I hear Rendile I understand 70% of what the person speaking it is saying.

Interesting.. some similar words in Oromo.

Ana Diidde = Aannaa Diddhe or An Dhiddhe
Gargara = support/help
Qabu = hold
Wan Arke = I saw

To lazy to translate the rest, but very similar.
