Is the New Prince who looks 'modern', and is a bosom buddy of Trump, and also who usurped a living prince his throne- up to something menacing???? He arrested an imam who criticized the mixing of unrelated male and females. Also a Saudi royal woman is scheduled to be head chopped soon because she is an activist against the abuse of Shiahs Muslims. What is going on here????? Is Trump setting an example of hard core modern thuggism all over the world????

2020 we need a democratic US president to return the world in a new trend setting. Liberalism.

Saudi Arabia wants to become a progressive liberal, secular and monarchist society and Somalis want to become a salafi theocracy.

Jokes Aside, crown prince Mohamed waged a silent coup against the royal family. He changed long tradition of succession process by sacking his cousin and becoming crown prince. He has angered almost all of the royal family members and threatened them with violence and assets stripping after he arrested the most influential of these male royals and other influential people in politics and the business sectors. Many royals are against his policies in yemen and the Qatari blockade/invasion. So far, it seems that he has the upper hand and his foes (though they are very powerful), they don’t want to rock the boat further and end up in a bloody civil war that they could lose everything. The rest of the stories you hear from Saudi Arabia like female rights and arresting a couple of Wahhabi clergy is just a window dressing.

Great point. Aussie. So my original point for Trump setting new trend for liberalism does not apply in Saudi. I believe Muslims can be liberals without being secular. The same principals of Liberalism here in the west matches what Islam preaches. Charity/Zakaat. tolerance of other religions or different people. Unfortunately, the Western Conservatism does not want Islam to spread. And at the same time, Islam does not want to side with liberalism with their lax social agenda. In the end, it is best that Saudi remain hard core conservative, Islam style. Prince M is wasting his time. U cannot transform an old Badoow nation into a secular, shinning, old style Roman style. Its useless.

Any president of the USA; past, present or the near future will not stand up to the KSA because of oil money. every american administration has been doing NIIKO for the Saudis and looking the other way whatever they do. what makes you think any president that comes after trump will change anything? why can't the American gov bring the Saudis to court over 9/11?

Saudi Arabia is looking to the Singaporean model of Liberalism where you’ve a fusion of everything; a dictatorship, a dose of democracy and a strong bureaucratic State with managed free speech which rendered them to be more meretricious and less corrupt than their neighbours like Malaysia or Indonesia. The funny thing is most Singaporeans always vote for the party founded by their first prime minister which is now led by his son and thus, his family has a monopoly on power. Kuwait attempted, but has a long way to go. I don’t think an Arab absolute monarchist and Islamist regime would be capable of successfuly implementing the Singaporean model. It will be more like the Chinese model, a carefully and strictly controlled capitalist market by the regime.
