What do you guys think of this? If there was one language that would be spoken in Africa, what would it be? I'm taking a guess. I would say swahili, but again there are so many that don't know Swahili especially West African countries:ohhh:

We don't want coloniser's languages. I know among them which is English, an International language. Be it french, portuguese, or English anything to do with colonizers, A phat NO:nahgirl:
So, what do you think about this? Do you want each region in Africa to have one language or the whole of the continent and what would be the language? I thought Somalis would refuse or find it difficult to speak Swahili, but the ones in NFD are doing good in speaking it:cosbyhmm:. Don't know if amharas find it difficult tho.I would say swahili is a close call for me.

I don't know why, but I dislike french speaking countries more than English ones, even though they're both colony languages:kendrickcry:

Choose a language and not an argument or questions here

English & French

It sounds nothing like Arabic though. Arabic influence is exaggerated by western scholars. A person in Congo can understand some Zwahili. You think an Arab or Berber understand this:

Ninakula ugali na ndizi......
There are borrowed Arabic words and It's Origin.
The word Swahili itself is derived from Arabic Sawahili سواحلي which is plural for ساحلmeaning [Language] of the Coast.
hatari خطر
Safari سفر
mahali محل
msumari مسمار
kata قطع
huru حر
kamusi قاموس
samahani سامحني

There are so many I can count for you, if you want.:mjpls:

ok maybe arabic?
You wanna torture Some Africans with Arabic. They can't even pronounce the words like ع instead pronounce it as a. On top of that it's not an African language:cosbyhmm: maybe the North and horn can have it which they do now but not South-Eastern bantu countries

Loan words mean nothing in the greater linguistic sense. Somali probably has a similar amount of Arabic loan words, if not more......Swahili deserves more respect as a pure Bantu language.......

Ok Swahili. If the adoon Kenyans can speak Swahili, which is really a massacre derivation of the arabic language, twisted upside & down, then other africans can speak it too.
