North African including Sudan have rejected extremism , they barely have a presence in society in west Africa
why won’t Somalis reject it as well? Why do you want to be the face of poverty and extremism when your neighbours reject it

They know they cannot progress with wahabbism, Somalia is on the ground the only thing that gives them hope is religion. Once Somalia improves drastically you’ll see more and more push away this Saudi imported ideology

Somalis are not as Salafi as you think even in their current squalor, especially not the youth. They're not as liberalized as Arabs or Iranians but because of their smartphones and 4G most are pretty westernized on some level. You'd even be surprised at how many are not actually virgins or at least secretly date. Don't let the jilbabs fool you.
