5, oldest is 12, I don't think the youngest has Austim although have hard time reading and it looks like he might have dyslexia, God is probably punishing him for sins.

If he was very autistic I think it would've been discovered before the age of 3. No need to worry, have patience and avoid pathologising.

I don't know the average age when kids learn to read and if dyslexia is real then there are many resources out there for him. Otherwise read with him and give him books and be patient.

I’ll never forget when someone said that Dyslexia is a key word for “White people can’t read.” :deadrose::deadmanny:

Jokes aside, the autism definition has been widened so that’s why it seems like lots of kids have it. Some are misdiagnosed too. With Somalis specifically, it can be anything. I’ve even heard that the whitening creams like Diana can increase autism bc of the mercury. But I do wonder why it seems so prevalent among Somalis.

I've heard of instances were parents lie and claim their child has a disability to get extra welfare money. You never know with Somalis. :farmajoyaab:

Those who choose not to vaccinate their children tend to be of higher SES and also have access to diets and lifestyles that are potentially disease ameliorating. They also have more time to sign vaccine waiver forms. And can afford to not vaccinate and won't have to pay any of the steep costs associated with certain disease outbreaks like those with fewer resources normally from lower SES and from minority backgrounds.

Exposure to heavy metals may increase risk to autism. I have noticed some parents with autistic children attempt to remove heavy metals through chelation.
