What Are Names You Would Want To Name Your Child?

Boys: Aden, Samatar, Rooble, Sharmarke

Girls: Zahra, Layla, Mulki, Ebyan, Maryan

Will Millennial and Gen z somalis name their kids Abdi as much as our parents generation?

These names could change in the future. The name of my child depends on what type of situation Im in and the context she/he was born.

One thing is certain, Im giving my kids somali names, well most. The reason is as a person born in the west I already got not so great ties to my homeland. Everytime my kids see their name they will recognise they are somalis. I want that to be echoed in their head.

If I don’t give my child a somali name, Im giving especially son a name of Allah SWT and the girls a notable women figure in Islam.

they probably don't even know where those names come from. The name sounds cool to them, so they name them that. pretty innocent if you ask me

No. They named them after friends, artists, etc... which is obviously fine. Nothing wrong with naming your kids what you want. But don't be confused when you see a Somali kid named Chowdury or Tengku though.
