Baarlin is a Somali traditional cultural female name, not to be confused with Berlin the city. It was actually clarified in another thread:

This isnt about Baarlin and you know it. You need to accept that you were wrong, show some humility, and get over it. It's not serious. There are Somalis that have non-Somali/non-Arabic names. Big deal.

It's increasing getting more common among the younger Somali crowd to give their children a 'unique' name, irrespective of its origin. And it's not frowned up either among Somalis. I've even seen a Somali kid called Reign

I know a few examples of unique names but @Idilinaa will probably start calling me names if I did. But yes, I find it weird how Somali traditionalists don't care about children having weird unique names. They let it slide. My cousin named his son a very unique name and his religious mother wasn't phased by it.
