I picked French and Spanish (as second languages), but forgot it all due to not using it.

They should have taught us Mandarin, our new upcoming overlords.

Gen Z in European countries known for speaking bad English now all speak relatively good English. Even in backward places like Belarus.

More than once I got stuck while doing research because the source material was only available in Mandarin Chinese. It was some geeky IT stuff though coded by Chinese coders who didn't translate their obscure but useful computer program.

I wish the EU promoted something like Esperanto instead of promoting English. I don't get why the EU totally ignores Esperanto and doesn't promote it to create a pan-European identity.

I saw a documentary about rich French families hiring Chinese nannies. They only speak Mandarin to the kids. In school they only care about teaching basic European languages unfortunately. They should at least give the option. I know they do in uni, but it’s a bit late.
