I never denied that I am qabilist. I am pretty much comfortable with myself and don’t need to hide.

However there hundreds of people that I can pick out to admire from my clan and my re abti clan. I picked out those, because they were different than the rest. They were simply effective from military stand point.

Lastly, 99.99 of Somalis suffer from sort of “Muh qabiil” syndrome. Some deny it and others are brave enough to admit it.

It's actually sad state of affairs that, despite this huge step towards democratisation, people vote on clan lines and not based on ideology. I hope to see modern and pragmatic party leaders that talk about ideas and visions instead of the usual opposition narrative. It would also be more befitting of them to attack each other in the parliament instead of in interviews and speeches. I wonder whether the opposition parties came up with bills proposals or was their role reduced to approving government bills? Somali MPs neglect their right of initiative or maybe the right to propose a new law/bill lies within the government?

So there is local election for councillors and those individuals hold a vote amongst themselves by secret ballot who is to be mayor
