Why though? This is an illegal election. If these parties stop with this independence nonsense then I would be fine with it. But that is not the case here. Somalia should do what the Spanish government do and have the power to dissolve regional governments in their constitution.

Take notes walanweyn. Hopefully you'll have an actual election in 2020.

Oh you don't worry about that sxb. We have more pressing things right now.

Spain has an article in their constitution that can take away autonomous rights of any regional government that messes about. The Somali government should do this as soon as they can. Look at how the EU cannot even say one thing about Spain. The fairytale will end as soon as Somalia implements this. Then we can talk properly. How can you talk when you don't have the upper hand?

Somalia can't even take away the autonomous rights of a tuulo. :mjlol:

Are you actually talking about who has the upper hand while you are still under UN and AMISOM occupation? :bell:

Legality and reality is two different concepts, the former is hardly muterable, the other changes in accordance with variables.

Somalia's ability now does not change the underlying precedent and sovereignty claims.

Somaliland de-facto status does not merit protection or recognition as it stands and no security council member whom might offer credence to the legality of the secession has yet to be found.

Your struggle with legality in precedents in favour of sovereignty as well as geopolitical realities, Somalia struggles only with reality.

Haha, Somalia is learning from Europe.

why? somalis need to fix their own issues and quit allowing these whiteys to have the final say in everything they do.

Kulmiye can't be trusted to manage a small tea shop let alone elections that is why.

Unlike Somaliland, Catalonia is a fully-integrated part of Spain with clear power sharing mechanisms and I think around 1000 years of being in the same state. Can hardly say the same for the Somalia-Somaliland situation.

What's the point with having an election if you don't even trust the people you gonna vote for?

This isn't something to cheer for this basically means you trust an Cadaan more than a Somali

If Somaliland wants to be democratic then they should start by showing that nobody is above the law

Starting with clan elders jail anyone who intervenes in public matter also Jail the mayor for failing to do his job as a mayor and ruining the lives of innocent families

If that happens and the head of police is in charge of what happens everything goes smoothly also anyone who takes bribes is jailed even cops should implement a camera on all cops anyone who takes it off without a valid reason will get a hefty fine

Since you love getting into legal issues show me an accepted legal document that shows Somaliland is under the rule of Somalia.

Make it a separate thread so this one doesn't get de-railed.

Excuse me Mr Deutschlander, that's not how it works round here.

Technically Catalonia has been part of Spain for 548 years when the Crown of Aragon merged with the Crown of Castile in a dynastic union to create the Kingdom of Spain in 1469.

Whilst I don't agree with Catalonia separating from Spain (mainly to deter Somaliland), the people of Catalonia have a more substantial claim to independence than to the fairytale called Somaliland. They have different language and culture compared to Somaliland who are the same people to their southern brethren. They only reason why they want independence is because of one thing and that is "Muh Qabiil" which is a terrible excuse, a very pitiful one at that. It just shows how far the people there have been ideologically poisoned for over 2 decades!
