Somalia is not in a position of power for years. We could curb down Al-shabaab by utilising Mukhtsr Roobow. A lot of soldiers come from his clan. There is religious extremism in Somalia but Al-shabaab today has power due to qabyaalad. Entice the footsoldiers with money, khat, whatever it takes. Shabaab soldiers are not the same as Taliban. They lack the same level of religious fight in them. Al-shabaab would have crumbled in a day if Somalia faced a drop of what happened in Afghanistan.
Somalia will not fight Al-shabaab for a while. Our military is basically clan militia in hiding. If America can negotiate with Taliban, so can we with the kebabs.

You haven't told a lie lkn Somalia is militarily backed well by western forces, all it could take get rid of AS leadership is an efficient government which collects intel on AS leaders strongholds etc and co-ordinate drone strikes. just a thought

Easily, fortify the security and guarantee that people would be safe, there is just no will at the moment to execute a good security policy.
