Or just any trees really but palm trees suit the desert environment and dont need as much maintenance

Its actually date palm trees as well so maybe they could be harvested



Ive only seen puntland do this, this should be brought to people's attention we definitely need more all over the country in the future

Theres also other beautiful trees that cant survive in harsher climates

I said it before many times that the land barren Horns of Africa needs to learn from the Mediterannean countries (South Europe, North Africa and the Levant) that have the same type of trees because they share the same climate and landscape. Even the hotter parts of South America.

They need to plant millions of olives, pomegranades, figs, dates, jujubes and many other drought resistant fruit trees and make them the face of the region to minimize famine and beautify the landscape. I’m sure these won’t cost much to the govt.

I always wondered why we don’t produce dates nationally? Always see imports from Saudi/UAE.

One of my uncles from Galmudug said they have planted many, but they don’t bear fruit since it needs very severe dry desert climates. Is it correct or is there something wrong with their process? Because seems like to me Galmudug, Puntland have the perfect climates for growing date trees…
